MARCH 2012 NEWSLETTER

UNIT FOR THE MONTH: This is the month for both St. Patrick’s Day and Spring Projects. We will also begin Easter discussions and projects. The four year classes will also begin work on word recognition and relationship of objects such as over, under, behind, etc. Our four’s study of beginning sounds will include W & H, L & R, and F & V. We will also continue to study counting by tens and forming numbers in each ten family. The three year classes will increase number recognition to 10. We will also continue to develop the concept of opposites and visual discrimination with the 3 year classes. Keep up the good work in writing your child’s name.

HELPING OTHERS: March and April we will be participating in a great project for the benefit of The Ronald McDonald House by collection the tabs from soda cans. Parents stay at this house, while children are being treated at the hospital. There will be a contest between classes for the most tabs collected. The winning class will receive a special treat. Please send in any tabs in a container marked with the quantity and your child’s name. If the tabs are not labeled your child’s class will not get credit for them. Thank you in advance for your support of this child centered cause.

BABES PROGRAM: On Friday, March 16th, Mrs. Mattes will begin a series of puppet presentations, called “BABES”. This program is for all four year classes. It is designed to help children make decisions in daily living and also teaches how to meet some of the problems in their young lives. As part of this program, the children will make a puppet each week. Please keep these puppets so your child will have a complete set to enjoy. Your interest will help to reinforce the basic living concepts presented. It is also a good idea to discuss these puppet shows and concepts with your child. If a puppet color page is sent home, please try to color this page identically to the puppet and return to school.

A COLORFUL WORLD & EARTH DAY- Our Fundraiser Sale started February 23rd and will end on March 7th. Delivery will be the week of April 7th. This brochure is full of great spring time products along with some “Green” items just in time for Mother’s Day. If you have any questions please contact Ann in the office. We appreciate your support very much. It is through fundraiser profits that we are able to replace and buy additional items for the school. Please make all checks payable to The Cardinal Pre-School. Thank You!

HAVE YOU TRANSFERRED YOUR CHILD FOR NEXT YEAR? The transfer fee of $20.00 which may be included in your monthly tuition payment. Transfer is not automatic.

A REMINDER: Tuition payments are due on the first of each month. Please take all payments to the office. There is a box on the desk marked for tuitions. Please do not give tuition or any other monies to your teacher or put in the school bag. The office is the place to pay.

SCHOOL YEAR 2012-2013: We are enrolling for September 2012-2013. If you know of someone considering our program, please encourage them to call now (610) 872-2343 for information and a school tour. In the weeks ahead, if you find colored flyers in the school bag, please display them in a local stores, gym, church etc.

A LITTLE GRAMMAR FOR SCHOOL & HOME:
1.) We do encourage the use of the word “YES” in place of “YEAH.” We, also say, “yeah” is not a word.
2.) Secondly, we encourage using the words for example “John and I” in place of “me and John.” This is an example of putting the other person before ourselves when speaking. It is important not only What we say but How we say it. H.J.M.

REST IS IMPORTANT: Is your child getting enough rest? The teachers would like to encourage more rest for the children. We do have a full day of activity every day.
Rest is very necessary.
We would also like to encourage all children to eat a good breakfast before coming to school.

CARDINAL DAYS: Every Wednesday and Thursday are Cardinal days. Be sure your child wears their shirt to school on these days. Our goal is 100% participation.

PARENT REMINDER:
1. For your child’s safety, please, please DO NOT allow your child to walk on the wall even if you have their hand.
2. Please DO NOT let your children run down the walkway. Heads, knees, hands, faces do not do well against cement. We love your child. Let’s Keep Them Safe.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY
